96.5% of taxpayers submitted their individual income tax returns by midnight on 18 Apr 2018. The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) thanks taxpayers for submitting their tax returns on-time and for their contributions towards nation building.
Income Tax Filing Top Line
96.5% of taxpayers filed their tax returns on-time by 18 Apr this year, up from 96% last year. 780,000 taxpayers, or more than 97% of those who filed their tax returns, did so electronically. About 23% of taxpayers used their mobile devices to access myTax Portal to file or view their tax returns on-the-go.
80,000 taxpayers received an early or immediate tax bill this year. This is an ongoing initiative for early finalisation of assessments so that taxpayers can plan ahead for greater certainty on their tax payments.
Around 6,000 partnerships filed their Form P early by end February this year, This has enabled more than 12,000 partners to enjoy the convenience of having their partnership income pre-filled in their individual income tax returns by IRAS. IRAS invites all business partnerships to file earlier next year.
Some 9,000 private-hire car drivers have opted through Grab and Uber platforms to have their income and commission fees pre-filled in their individual income tax returns by IRAS this year. This service initiative to pre-fill self-employed income information was extended to private-hire car drivers, after it was first implemented in 2015 for individual commission agents such as property and insurance agents.
IRAS will continue to collaborate with industry stakeholders to bring about greater convenience in tax filing and make it easier for taxpayers to fulfil their tax filing obligations.
