Singapore and the Czech Republic Revise Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation
Singapore and the Czech Republic signed a Protocol on 26 June 2013 to amend the existing Singapore-Czech Republic Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (DTA).
The Protocol was signed in Singapore between Mr Tan Soo Khoon Singapore’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic and His Excellency Tomas Smetanka, the Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Singapore.
Amongst other changes, the Protocol incorporates the internationally agreed Standard for exchange of information for tax purposes in the DTA, lowers the royalty withholding tax rates and provides a more mutually favourable tax treatment for shipping income and capital gains.
The full text of the protocol is available here (PDF, 38KB). The protocol will enter into force after its ratification by both countries.
