40,000 Businesses Receive Support Through Small Business Recovery Grant
1. Over 40,000 businesses received the Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) last week, amounting to a total of about $132 million.
2. The SBRG was announced during Budget 2022 as part of the $500 million Jobs and Business Support Package. It provides one-off cash support to small businesses in sectors most affected by COVID-19 Safe Management Measures last year.
3. Eligible businesses received $1,000 for each Singapore Citizen/ Permanent Resident employee with mandatory CPF contributions employed from 1 November 2021 to 31 December 2021, capped at $10,000 per firm. In addition, eligible sole proprietorships, partnerships, as well as hawkers, market and coffeeshop stallholders licensed by the Singapore Food Agency received a flat payout of $1,000 even if they did not employ any workers during this period.
