e-Filing made easy for taxpayers

We have contacted Mr Lam and understand from him that he has since received the paper return which he had earlier requested from us.
e-Filing of tax returns is made simple for taxpayers as most of the information is pre-filled for them. For taxi-drivers like Mr Lam and the self-employed, all they need to do is verify the information on their personal reliefs and declare their income before submitting their tax returns electronically to us. Last year, about 70% of the self-employed chose to e-File their tax returns. This year, among the self-employed who have already filed their taxes, 4 out of 5 did so electronically.
We recognise that some taxpayers may need assistance to file their taxes. Taxpayers may visit our e-Filing Service Centres at Bedok Community Centre or Chong Pang Community Club, or any of the CPF Service Centres. The waiting time at these centres is usually 15 minutes. There are also volunteers at 23 CitizenConnect centres located islandwide to help taxpayers e-File and answer any tax enquiries they may have.
Taxi-drivers may also approach the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) at SPD Ability Centre (2 Peng Nguan Street) from now to 16 Apr, 10 am to 12pm, 1.30pm to 3.30pm (Mon to Fri) for e-Filing assistance. The service is specially set up by the physically disabled to help taxi-drivers with e-Filing.
While we encourage taxpayers to e-File their tax returns, we will continue to send paper returns to those who request them. Taxpayers who need clarification or assistance may call 1800-356 8300.
We wish to take this opportunity to remind all taxpayers to e-File their tax returns by 18 Apr 2010 or send in their paper returns by 15 Apr 2010.
