We refer to the letter '公会延迟递呈报表可否宽免罚金' (Lianhe Zaobao, 11 Jul 09) by 陈汉豹.

We have contacted Mr Tang and waived the composition fees imposed on the Association as we understand that the Association did not receive the tax return that we sent earlier.

E-filing of tax return has been made simple for taxpayers as most of the information is pre-filled for them. All that taxpayers need to do is to verify the information before submiting their tax returns electronically to us. We are pleased that the number of taxpayers who e-File their tax returns has increased over the years and a record high of 91% of the taxpayers e-Filed their returns this year.

However, we recognise that some taxpayers may need assistance to file their taxes. During the filing season, we set up e-Filing service centres at the CPF service centres, community clubs and CitizenConnect centres to help taxpayers e-File and answer any tax enquiries they may have. We will continue to provide this service in the coming years so that more can benefit from the convenience of e-Filing. Nevertheless, we will continue to send paper return to those who request for one.

Taxpayers who need clarification or assistance may contact our helpline at 1800-356 8300.
