Singapore and Rwanda Sign Agreement for Avoidance of Double Taxation
Singapore and Rwanda signed an Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation (DTA) on 26 August 2014.
The signing took place in Singapore between Mr K Shanmugam, the Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs and Honourable Louise Mushikiwabo, the Rwanda Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The DTA will clarify the taxing rights of both countries on all forms of income flows arising from cross-border business activities, and minimise the double taxation of such income. By providing greater tax certainty to businesses and individuals, the DTA is expected to boost trade and investment flows between the two countries.
The full text of the DTA is available here (PDF, 190KB). The DTA will enter into force after its ratification by both countries.
