You Mei Mei (GST offences)

Offences

53-year-old You Meimei (“YMM”), the sole director and shareholder of Nanyang Laodian Pte Ltd (“Nanyang”) and Huamei Holidays Pte Ltd (“Huamei”), in the businesess of selling medicated oils and related products; and  providing tours and travel services respectively, convicted of the following Goods & Services Tax (GST) offences:

• Failure to notify the Comptroller of GST of Nanyang’s liability to be registered for GST, resulting in $303,857 in GST due; and 
• Making of an incorrect  GST F5 return by Huamei, resulting in $61,167 in GST undercharged

Court sentence

• $10,000 in fine and $152,721 in penalties
